Can hear water running next door

A couple of times this evening I have heard what I thought was rain outside. Thought nothing of it until I’ve just let the dogs in the garden for their bedtime wee, and realised that I can hear water but it’s dry outside.

Its definitely coming from next door, sounds like it does when their washing machine is draining, but they aren’t there.

DD just told me that she’s heard it all afternoon (I’ve been out). So could it be a pipe burst or something like that? Hose left on?

I’m assuming they are on holiday, and I have no idea how I could get in contact with them or what my next step should be.

Any ideas?

If you're concerned but not sure could you contact your local fire brigade for advice?

I know this is a very MN answer, but maybe call 101? You could get advice on whether it’s OK to go onto their property to check it out, they might send a PCSO?

Please don't just jump to calling the police out amd poke around a bit yourself first. Earlier this year I went out for two hours and a small leak I didn't even know about began to drip (just drip) into the shop downstairs.

I came to the police having broken my door down. I had to move out while it was fixed, expensive for the landlord and hassle and stress for me.

Turned out they'd lied to the police and said they'd heard a couple fighting and things being thrown to force a welfare check (I checked this with 101 afterwards). I'm still annoyed about it.

Can you look in the windows? Could be the hose left running?

Meant to add I live alone so no "shouting male voice". Bastards.

Ring the local police or fire station

Might it be a hose or sprinkler system in their garden? I'd rule out minor things first before panicking.
