My son is 4 next week and starts school in September. He has lots of books and we read them over and over and multiple ones each night.

id really like to start reading him longer books that would last more than one night but haven’t got a clue which ones!

any suggestions?

thank you in advance 😊

At that age we started on some of the shorted Road Dahl books - the minpins, giraffe, the pelly and me, the twits, George's marvellous medicine.

agree with the above the shorter Roahl Dahl books like Thr Enormous Crocodile etc. are really good to start with. The Isadora Moon books by Harriet Muncaster are also very good for that age.

I would second the enormous crocodile

I'm currently reading my preschooler 'my naughty little sister' a bit retro but she's really enjoying it. Very child dependent though as my older child could never get into it

Paddington Bear and Winnie the witch and Wilbur are also big hits in our house

Claude books by Alex T Smith. Really easy to read out loud.

We loved Claude, the 13 storey treehouse books, magic faraway tree, Mrs pepperpot, pippi long-stocking at pre-school age.

The dragon sitter series was a hit in our home. Some picture books do longer young reader versions like the Winnie the Witch chapter books. Id get down to the library and see which takes both of your fancy.

Winnie the Pooh
Katie Morag
Beatrix Potter

Second the idea of a trip to the library; you could both choose some.

Take him to the library and let him choose some
