Hi.
Im currently on holiday and we have a burglar alarm with cameras. Im worried sick because we have already been burgled once and they took a massive amount of 24 carat gold. I am of South Asian origin.

After the burglary, I installed alarms and cameras with ADT. I am currently on holiday and I am getting notifications and photos of someone on my property at midnight! The neighbours are so kind and patrol the garden with their dogs but the intruder is coming at night. Everything is secure but I am still scared and traumatised by the first burglary...is there anything I can do?

I too love in the countryside. Right on the end of a village. Next door neighbours are sheep. We have alarm system, cameras etc. and also smart lighting. It gets activated when the alarm system detects movement outside the property. Depending on the system you have you can activate the alarm remotely. I had that once and it scared the buggers away!

do you have sensor lights? Can you activate lights remotely?

Next t8me you’re away, employ house sitters.

@Scaredandabroad this happened to us re gold robbery. It was an inside job as we had a family wedding at the time.

You need a doorbell like Ring you can speak through your phone into the doorbell. You could of asked the person what exactly were they looking for in your garden!

I bet they won't be back in a hurry..

Unfortunately Asian households are targets for gold theft, its not true that it has to be someone the Op knows.

Absolutely. When my BIL's house got broken in to the police told him he might want to consider getting rid if his personalised number plate.

How is the situation now, op?

Scaredandabroad · 03/07/2022 15:38

Hi @Kezzie200
I have contacted the police and Im currently waiting for a reply.

Make sure you aren't advertising that you are away on social media with pics etc

This sounds scary op.

Audioslaw · 03/07/2022 15:47

If you call the police when it is actually happening then they will treat this as a burglary in progress and a top category emergency on blue lights. Save the footage of the existing instances somewhere safe too, can you see a good image of the suspect?

Scaredandabroad · 03/07/2022 19:05

@Pregante
Absolutely. I have been very careful with this. Yes , its so horrible. I'm trying to relax with my kids...

@Audioslaw thank you. I am contacting the alarm company and seeing if they can do live notifications.

ADT do live notifications. Set them up on your app. Do you pay for the recordings to be saved?

Old thread but poor OP. Our famiiy was victim to a targetted burglary for gold and it was absolutely traumatic. Hope you are ok. Police need to do more

Looking forward to several pages of people telling the OP to call the police over a year late now!
