How do you manage your unruly hair on beach holidays?

I'd love to avoid Monica's humidity hair and the crunch effects of sand, sea and chlorine if anyone has any tips please?

I wear 2 plaits and a bandana.

I don't don't care about optics or opinions but realise most people above the age of 10 wouldn't choose this option!

My hair isn’t wildly unruly but it does get totally tangled and knotty with sea water/long days in the beach and repeated wetting and drying. But I’ve found a big squeeze of hair mask straight in to sea wet hair and then put in a bun/plait/pony tail helps sooo much. I something brush it through but mostly not. I got a tube of Philip Kingsley elastizer as a gift which is excellent but when it runs out I think I’ll just get Aussie hair or something for dry frizzly hair. Important thing is to just whack on so much it looks damp!

Plaits.

I did think about buying a leave in conditioner or mask but then what if I want to jump back in the pool?! 🤔

I wear a head scarf and use a leave in conditioner

007DoubleOSeven · 02/07/2022 21:22

Oh I don't both, I just let it do what it wants and embrace it. Leaves me free to enjoy myself without worrying about it.

hatchyu · 02/07/2022 21:22

I put a kerastase sun protector thing on & plait it.

Yodaisawally · 02/07/2022 21:24

Plait it in the morning with conditioner combed through

doadeer · 02/07/2022 21:24

I just put in a messy bun 🤷‍♀️

edwinbear · 02/07/2022 22:35

Nanokeratin treatment before I go. It’s the only thing that works for me.

stayathomer · 02/07/2022 22:40

Of all the oils (argon and macadamia), frizz ease and fab leave in conditioners (Shea moisture milk, Toni and guy, Aussie)that have been working for me to date- I’m sorry to tell you but nothing worked abroad and I was equivalent To Monica. Fingers crossed that you find something!!!

Workyticket · 03/07/2022 10:10

@stayathomer I fear that will be me too 🙈🤣

Worst thing was I thought I was more Elle Macpheason with my beach waves until I looked at photos😅

Bearsan · 03/07/2022 14:00

Leave in conditioner, plaits, straw cowboy hat or baseball cap.
Then Bleach reincarnation hair mask- ( it's not bleached).
That Aussie stuff is useless imo.

FlySwimmer · 03/07/2022 14:14

Those who use leave-in conditioner, do you use it at the end of the day & then plait/leave your hair to dry? Or apply to dry hair at the start of the day?

AnyFucker · 03/07/2022 14:48

I use this after I wash my hair at the end of the day then cover it in the sun tha day after with a headscarf

AnyFucker · 03/07/2022 14:50

You can also top it up on dry hair in the morning. It doesn’t go sticky or build up too much

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 03/07/2022 15:01

I just put it in a bobble and jazz it up with a hat/bow/scrunchie. I have the frizziest hair known to man and CBA with making it pass when I'm out in the weather.

Pleasecouldihavesomeadvice · 03/07/2022 15:17

A bit of normal conditioner, plait or tie in a bun.
when it comes to washing hair, it feels smooth.
I do go in the pool with this too. It’s only a tiny amount of conditioner

Workyticket · 13/07/2022 21:44

I'm off to Boots tomorrow to have a smell of some of these suggestions!

I've been watching tikToks of people putting their hair up using the tiny see through bobbles and looking cool.

Going to have a go but imagine I'll look like an aging primary school teacher instead of the trendy women in the videos (I am an aging school teacher, I just don't want to look like one)
