Yep there’s quite a few of us

Okay it's a weird one but not something I've experienced before.
Dentist has asked me to come back in a couple of weeks because my throat was sore and she mentioned if it wasn't better referring me to someone else. It just seems over the top to me and never come across it before and wondered if it was normal practice

Absolutely normal. Not trying to scare you but I spotted something very strange in someone’s mouth once and referred him. He came back later to say it turned out he’d got oesophageal cancer and had been to the doctors 18 months ago with a sore throat and they had told him it was acid reflux.

It could well have been acid reflux @RobinHumphries as if it isn't treated, or the treatment doesn't work, the repeated acid on the throat can unfortunately quite often lead to Oesophageal Cancer.

My Uncle had acid reflux for years, and he eventually died from O.C. My belief is that when medicines like Omeprazole, with added Gaviscon taken for any break through acid burning during the day, still don't stop the problem, then presuming there is a problem with their Hiatus valve (ie a Hernia), a patient should have the hernia operated on.

Everyone should go at least annually to their dentist's - presuming they can find one - because dentist's can pick up on so many other things as well as the state of our teeth and gums. I am just grateful that there are some of you left who actually want to be dentists, and continue to be dentists - especially in the NHS, but sadly there seems to be a whole country shortage of any dentist's at the moment.

Blimey! I am glad for the diligence in this case
