I need to buy a hosepipe and there seem to be a billion sorts and prices now. Has anyone used these kind of crinkled looking things? Are they better than normal ones, I can't figure out why they have been invented. Have never thought about hosepipes so much and now have wierd hosepipe fomo.

I bought one of those crinkle type ones and it was so much easier to use and NO kinks!

Trouble was, I need to go up stone steps to my garden and they soon frayed the fabric.

I looked into getting one after being sucked in by an infomercial. They don't last very well.

Ah thanks. That is v helpful to know, mine needs to be fairly tough so I'll stay old school.

If you need to drag those crinkled ones over and hard surface they spring leaks. I've had a few and they are easier, lighter and don't kink so it's a shame they aren't robust.
Now back to the traditional yellow one.

Went through about 4 of the Hozelock expanding ones, none lasted longer than 6 months. Regular Hozelock broke after about 1 year. Got an X hose from b&q and it's into its 2nd year now. Would steer clear of Hozelock for a while, don't think they knew what they used to be.

Also what's your water pressure like, if it's not strong enough the expanding ones don't work.

My crinkly one sprung a leak within a couple of weeks so I replaced it under the guarantee and the next one lasted even less.
I've gone back to a normal style one on a reel that winds itself back in and it's going strong after 5 years

Crinkled expanding one is great! No tedious winding up a reel. I do put them away in winter to protect them from frost etc.
