Any midwives around?

I have a question about meds post birth. I'm scheduled for a section so I'll definitely be in for a night or two. I take medication at night time for a psychiatric disorder which has the effect of making me very sleepy - I'm worried about how to cope in hospital. Will there be any overnight help? I get in a real mess if I skip it even for one night but Im thinking I might have to risk it because of having to be alert enough to feed baby.

I’m not a midwife but when I had my first baby (c-section) the midwives and healthcare workers were really helpful and came round often to check on us/help with changing the baby and helping the baby to latch. One also took my baby for an hour so I could get some sleep (and returned her telling me she wasn’t much of a sleeper - she was not wrong there!).
Have a chat with them, I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to support you, rather than risk you missing your meds and potentially becoming unwell.

where I work you’d have a care plan in place for a side room and someone (ie partner or relative) to stay with you overnight - has that been discussed at all?

swaying - no it hasn't but I'm a while away from giving birth. That's really interesting, I'll definitely ask about that.

In the trust I work for this would be a reason to allow the birth partner to stay overnight. Usually it would be written into the birth plan and supported by your mental health professional.
