Should I have 'anchored' my big swing set?

We have a big, heavy Plum wooden swing set. Never bothered anchoring it, but now DD & friends are bigger the legs lift a bit when they swing high 😧Anyone anchored theirs successfully? How? (Ideally without concrete).

Of course you anchor the swings!! It says that in the instructions, i have plum play too.

You dig a whole, fill with water and post crete and stick the metal pole they give you into the hole and attach to the leg of the frame. Its a simple 10minute job 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don't know how but yes should be anchored. I came off a swing this way as a kid.

Yes. One fell on me as a child and broke my leg and collarbone.

I just buried each of the legs about a foot deep. Has been v stable over the years.

I honestly didn't know it was a thing, swing set is old and didn't come with anchors. Are there alternatives to concrete that work safely?

We have these, they hold it perfectly still. You just hammer into the ground and then screw into the post. www.outdoortoys.co.uk/rebo-standard-swing-anchors-round-square-wood-set-of-4

Heavy duty ground stakes. Basically a pole that screws into the ground. Like a giant corkscrew tent peg.

ScatteredMama82 · 27/06/2022 14:34

Is it on grass? We got big corkscrew things that go down into the grass about 1ft and then screw onto the wooden legs

Yodaisawally · 27/06/2022 14:35

Yes you should!

We used concrete and it still moved a bit, I guess because it's wood. I wouldn't let them use it until it's anchored.

Brilliant thanks. So swinging until it's fixed!
