Have you been in an accident?....You could be entitled to...

I've lost count of the number of scammy calls I get trying to incite me into some kind of no win/no fee situation and yet now I'm thinking about pursuing a personal injury claim I can't bring to mind a reputable company to use!

I was in a no fault accident last week. Thankfully not massively serious but it has had some repercussions (mentally/physically/personally) that would not have been the case but for the accident.

Can anyone recommend a personal injury company to use? All the ones online have terrible reviews and look dodgy as heck!

Thanks :)

Have you been financially affected by this accident? If not, how will compensation help?

HSKAT · 26/06/2022 17:49

Go through your insurance they will pass on to their solicitors.

There's a thread atm about Winns, no win no fee and they've been charged £13k.

@ParanoidGynodroid yes I have. Not sure how it would help otherwise?

@HSKAT thanks for the heads up!

@fridacakehole whereabouts in the world are you? I have a very reputable contact in the North West of England.

When I had a car accident my insurance company passed my details to Irwin Mitchell had no issues with them

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 26/06/2022 18:06

I had a no fault accident and the other driver's insurance company passed me on to a solicitor that specialised in these claims.

I only followed up because I needed physio and wanted it paid for. Just be aware there is a LOT of admin, I also had meeting with a doctor to verify injuries, and you really have to keep on top of it.

Anotherdayanotherdisappointment · 26/06/2022 18:15

It was over 10 years ago but I'm pretty sure I got compensation for injuries through my insurance after an accident. Or through the other person's insurance I guess.

fridacakehole · 26/06/2022 18:22

Thanks all - lots of helpful advice.

I didn't take legal cover with my insurance policy so I can't go through them.

It's the physio I stand to be out of pocket on. The admin so far has been so time consuming I don't want to add even more! But it's so frustrating that I stand to lose so much from so many different angles due to an accident that was completely avoidable and not my fault at all. So thank you for all this info.

@SilentBob I'm south east. If you think they could still help could you send me the details?

Legal cover and personal injury cover are different.
Check your policy

If it was a no fault accident who will you claim against?

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 26/06/2022 18:43

I don't understand the term no fault. Does it not mean no one is at fault?

If a person comes into your, you are non fault, they are fault.
Claim against the person at fault.

'No fault' means you were in an accident but you didn't cause it. The other driver's insurance pays.
OP - do contact the other driver's insurer re physio. Also, even if not claiming on your own insurance, you do need to inform them you've been in a no-fault accident.

chiffchaffchiff · 26/06/2022 19:19

A lot of solicitors deal with personal injury. Find a reputable local firm and you'll be able to meet someone face to face to talk through it.

gobbynorthernbird · 26/06/2022 19:24

Your insurance company will have a panel solicitor (assuming this was a car accident). You can be referred to them even if you don't have the legal cover on your policy and it'll just be no win/no fee.

You'll get pretty much the same service and result whoever the panel sols are.

fridacakehole · 26/06/2022 19:42

Insurance for my written off car is all in hand. Both my and her insurers have been very proactive.

But there are repercussions that aren't covered by my policy, as above.

I'm currently looking at the Official Injury Claim portal on the gov.uk website and reading through your comments. Thanks again :)

Irwin Mitchell are fab, and ignore the preachy fuckers saying how will compensation help. You’ve been injured through no fault of your own, then you are entitled to, and deserve, compensation.

gobbynorthernbird · 26/06/2022 19:54

OP, the injury repercussions are covered by the third party's insurance policy.

Contact your insurer and ask for a referral to their PI solicitors. Or, I can recommend a firm if you (for whatever reason) want to use someone else.

Purpleavocado · 26/06/2022 19:58

Her insurance will probably cover it, not yours. That happened to me - they paid me compensation, not my insurance.
