Really nice gift for a 17yo boy.

I need to buy a nice gift for a 17yo boy. I don't know him super well, so something fairly generic would be fine, but I have no idea what! If it was a girl, I might be thinking about jewellery, a nice candle, posh toiletries etc, but what the heck do boys like?Confused

Definitely donly want to go with edible stuff, though something foodie could potentially be a component. No idea what books he is into, or if he even reads. Ditto music etc. He isn't into gaming etc and doesn't go any particular sport. No hobbies that I'm aware of, though he does have a much loved dog!

Budget is around £15-25ish but can be flexible for the right thing.

Help!!

Not sure where donly came from. Don't only!

Also, it has to be a gift. A voucher won't work, otherwise that would be the obvious solution.

My teen sons would love aftershave.

Absolutely aftershave, my late teens love it.

Aftershave?Find out from sales assistant whats hot with 17 year olds right now.
My son is into Paco Rabane Invictus and hes that age.He also has Sauvage and Le Beau by Gaultier.
They are all strong scents but seems the stronger the better for young men.

My 17 yo DS likes David Beckham's Eau de Toilette. I'm not sure if it's Respect! (Sounds cool anyway).

Anothernamechangeplease · 26/06/2022 17:03

Ah, OK! Brilliant suggestion, thank you - that wouldn't have occurred to me but makes sense. Thanks for the specific brand suggestions, @Kastri, that's very helpful!

I know you said no vouchers - but what about a homemade voucher for his first driving lesson? He just swaps if for money when the first one gets booked x

That would be a great idea, but I think his parents are getting driving lessons so wouldn't want to steal their thunder iyswim. Thanks for the suggestion though!

If he has an iPhone and I watch you can get some nice wooden stands for charging. We got one for a sons friend on Amazon and he was thrilled with it

That's a good idea. No idea what kind of phone he has tbh but I could easily find out.

If he is a foodie what about a cooking class? I know our local posh Indian does classes on a weekend, there might be something like that near you?

Anothernamechangeplease · 26/06/2022 18:02

Thanks. Don't know that he is a foodie as such. I just meant that it would be OK if part of the gift was edible! Grin

Maybe kind of a wild idea but you can check out lists of popular video editing or photo editing software and get him a subscription. Not a voucher but still a useful thing, especially if he may be into creating Tiktok or Instagram content!

Hmm my DS would hate aftershave…

T-shirt (with gift receipt)
Facial scrub, wash, moisturiser for men or a really good skin serum/ post shave balm
cards against humanity
power bank for mobile phone
I know you said no vouchers but your price point would buy a few cinema tickets/ vouchers

Swiss Army knife. Ideal generic nice present for males. Useful and gadgety.

luckylavender · 27/06/2022 13:54

My DS would have hated aftershave at that age.
