Black mould in DS's bedroom - help!

Just discovered a slow leak in the boiler cupboard which is in DS3's room. The carpet and chipboard floorboard is covered in loads of horrible mould! Will be calling the boiler people tomorrow but in the meantime what do we do?! Can DS3 safely sleep in there tonight? The carpet has been ripped up and gone straight in the bin and I've spread bicarbonate of soda all over the manky floorboards and left the cupboard door open to try and air it. The board won't come out so I don't know what more I can do! Any advice welcome!

Wipe down the areas with bleach to kill any spores rather than bicarb. That’s just dust that will pick up the spores and waft them around further with any movement.

Go and buy a mould cleaning spray. The Astonish one is brilliant but Dettol, HG and Mr Muscle also do them. Our last house was terrible for mould, it was a new build and had very little ventilation. I had to wipe walls and floors many times with the spray it works wonders.

He's been sleeping in there with it like that for a while, so one more night isn't likely to be an issue. Follow pp's advice above about getting rid of the mould spores.

YY to a bleach/water mix to clear off the spores then a dehumidifier in the room will help dry it out.

Omg guys the bleach thing worked a treat! Thank you so much! Couldn't get right in the cracks around the boiler but will get on that as soon as the boiler people come out to fix. Another gap in my knowledge filled by Mumsnet 😁

Not much ventilation. The water doesn't move and attracts the mould. Get a window open or run a dehumidifier. Air circulation is necessary.

Are the floorboards still good or have they rotted? You might need to check for wet rot.
