Can I freeze these fruits?

I've got an entire box of cherries and a punnet of nectarines that I know we can't get through in the next day or so - and they're on the turn shortly!

Can I just freeze them? I've never frozen soft fruit before so not sure if it's worth doing or it'll just take up space in the freezer only to have to be binned anyway

Cherries freeze well but if you can be bothered to take the stones out first, future you will be grateful

Yes, but you need to pit them first. Peel is fine but they will become mushy and only suitable for cooking with; pie, cobbler, crisp, upside down cake etc.

Pit the cherries & cut in half, then lay flat in one layer on a tray, into the freezer. Once frozen put them in a sealable bag.
With the nectarines, halve & remove the stone. Cut into quarters if you want, lay in a single layer on a tray in the freezer & bag up once frozen.
They will be fine to use for jam, put fillings, compote etc.

Yes. Pit the cherries first. Put everything into a bag, add any other fruits you get over the next few weeks.

Then go to Waitrose and buy a bottle of Kirsch. I haven't found the real stuff anywhere else and the alternative, cheap versions are foul. Put the bottle at the back of a cupboard.

Make an ultimate chocolate brownie, Baking Mad site, and freeze that back too.

One day you will remember you have all three. Vanilla ice cream is good to have too.

Chocolate brownie goes into a warmish oven for about 20 minutes to defrost and be warm.to hot all the way through.

Put the ice cream out to defrost.

Fruit goes into a frying pan on quite a bit heat. Splosh a couple of tablespoons of Kirsch in and set light to it. Swish it all around and keep on swishing until the fruit is defrosted and warmed through.

Brownie in a bowl, fruits and juices poured over, ice cream on the side.

A grown up hot and cold black forest gateau kind of dessert.

The whole site is great if you want doable, safe recipes. Even my non baking, coeliac DSis finds baked she can both make for friends and family and eat herself.

Yep remove the pits, chop the nectarines into slices and bag up then freeze. If you want to really get ahead then make up some crumble mix and bag and freeze that too. Then on that day when you walk into the house late but desperately want a nice pudding all you have to do is tip the fruit into a Pyrex dish, pour the crumble mix on top and put it in the oven.

I generally eat the fruit with yogurt and porridge in the mornings. I'll definitely pit the cherries first!!

Or you could turn them into a compote , or two compotes, and that would also freeze well. Personally I would rather do that with fruit that is on the turn.
