What can I do about this bloody dream?

2 nights running, I've had a dream that leaves me sweating, racing heart rate and when I wake it takes a few minutes to realise it was a dream and I'm not actually in that situation.

I've booked a 3 day "adventure" trip. I need to travel light and there's some technical kit I'll need. Its not until August.

I have this dream that I've left packing till the last minute, I don't have everything I need/can't fit it all in my ruc sac, miss the bus, can't workout how to join the group, can't park the car, everyone's waiting for me. Last night even my parents got involved and refused to give me a lift to I could catch the group up.

FGS, I'm going to be wreck by the time I get there! I am really distressed when I wake and I had the dream three times last night, once the night before.

I get those dreams too, usually before a holiday or important event. As well as being late, not packed etc mine usually include trying to text something important but my fingers are too big or my phone has gone rubbery and I can't text any words. Sometimes I'm trying to write a note and I can't write. I wake up feeling very unrefreshed!

Oh and sorry I don't know how you stop those dreams. Maybe do a list of everything you need to do and put a few bits together so you've got some packing started.

Download the thoughts from your mind by making a list of everything you'll need to take then working through and checking you have everything on the list.

There's a fine line between excitement and apprehension sometimes and it sounds as though your subconscious is going into overtime when there are no other distractions.

It's just your mind telling you not to forget the important stuff, that's it's job, and it's doing it a bit too well. Before you go to bed write a list of what's been done, what's yet to be done and when you're going to do it by. Once your subconscious mind know you've got it under control it will stop yelling at you!

I have frequent dreams like this. Usually I need to make a flight. I'm late. I've forgotten a bag, lost my phone, lost my passport. Laptop missing. I'm running around airports then leaving the airport looking for things, random people from life get involved and I'm hoping to make the flight.
Awful. I had one last night and I've been out of sorts all day. The feeling of panic still comes back to me at random times of the day.
Mad thing is I used to be a frequent flyer, super organised but I haven't flown for 3 years now due to covid but that's clearly my anxiety dream.
The worst ones are where I actually get on the flight but it flies really low over a city and I know it's not right. Confused

But otherwise it's your brain trying to prepare you. Human brains are terrifyingly good at catastrophising and running through the worst possible eventuality. It's what helped us as hunter gatherers but it hasn't quite caught up.
Just prepare well and take the dreams as they come.

I've been having weird anxiety dreams for a few months. I'm normally at work trying to do the medication round, then all of a sudden I'm in the supermarket..
