Vertigo over years - ramsay hunt syndrome? Anyone have a clue?

10 years ago while pregnant, half of my face became paralysed on my left side, and I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy and given steroids. My face went back to normal after a few days (apart from a watery eye which I still get a lot).
6 years later, I started to get bad episodes of pain in my left ear. GP had a look and couldn't see anything wrong. The pain then started to happen a lot if and when I caught colds. This then started to be accompanied by bad vertigo which would last a few days. GP not v helpful. I also have a recurring sore throat which seems to flare up every few weeks for many years now. I am wondering if this is all connected, and if in fact it wasn't Bells Palsy I had 10 years ago but something like Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
I'm in the middle of another few days of sudden onset of vertigo along with a red hot and painful ear...I have a gp appointment next week, I'm not expecting much from them though! I'm wondering if there's something I should be pointing out to them.....does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?

Thanks in advance x

I get vertigo due to anxiety if I'm having a really bad episode of panic.
Well I've just started taking medication so hopefully it will improve.

What does that have to do with Op's post?

OP ask for an ENT referral, don't be fobbed off. Go in with the exact correlating information/symptoms as to why you believe it may be something else, and just state you want it ruling out by a member of the ENT team - not that you believe you deffo have it, just you want it ruling out by a specilist because the impact is becoming worse on day to day life.

If the GP refuses ask them on what grounds and request the same again. Switch GP if you need to. It sounds OTT but to be honest you have to fight your own battle with the NHS these days. I have paid private to see consultants at Spire before now just so I get the correct diagnosis and then continued treatment on the NHS.

Thank you so much, I will insist on being referred!

A note to say that although I can't help, I mentioned Ramsey Hunt syndrome to a friend who has been having bad explained issues, so thank you for sharing.

Could vestibular physio help? If it’s coming from the inner ear there are specific head movements that you can do to ease this. Gp may know if you could be referred once other options ruled out.
