Only been on there a few years but not sure it’s good for people in general

good for seeing what’s on
good for school info
food to keep in touch with some people you might lose touch with otherwise
but I’m just not sure about it overall

I feel the same. I take one day off per week. But it's how my friends organise stuff, instead of the good old days of texting each other.

Yodaisawally · 25/06/2022 17:43

I don't look at Facebook much at all anymore, it's all ads, hardly anyone I know uses it anymore

ldontWanna · 25/06/2022 17:47

Not really. I only use it to scroll through funny memes, some stuff on my feed, marketplace(buy and sell) and the videos part(found some amazing series on there that I then watched on telly) and post my own stuff. That's about it. Unless I'm watching stuff I'm not actually that much on it,or check notifications or whatever.

balalake · 25/06/2022 18:12

I do, to zero. Never belonged, am glad and would encourage others to do the same (or leave if they belong).

Agree OP it is not good in general.

carefullycourageous · 25/06/2022 18:16

I'm the same as @balalake - never been on it.

Stop using it and see how you feel if you're not sure?

LovelyYellowLabrador · 25/06/2022 18:50

Only reason I really check it is because if someone posted something important and I missed it I’d feel guilty ………
or I’d even feel guilty about missing birthdays etc

no because I don't use it and don't really know anyone who does. Last I did look at it it seemed full of bizarre selling posts, passive aggressive monologues and petty disputes on local residents groups. No thanks. Doesn't mean that other's don't have valid reasons for enjoying it but It holds absolutely no appeal to me.

If a given person is actually a proper part of your life then surely if something happened then they would message/call/have your address etc.

remove the app from your phone is the best way to reduce use OP, then you have to log on on the PC and will do it a lot less.

Not limited but not always much to see. I quite like my facebook feed which is:

kayaking in my region pages
cycling club & commuter pages
local & not so local wildlife monitoring & gossip pages
DC club pages
DC school & school gossip pages
updates from cousins & friends
local town/village/area gossip
2 professional-linked pages
pages for my nationality in UK (social, queries)
local give away/offers pages

I almost never wish happy birthday because it feels contrived. Happy to 'like' someone else's birthday wishes to mutual 'Friends'
