Im trying to think ahead and be organised of what I'm going to do to keep the 2 kids both under the age of 8 entertained for the 6 weeks holiday.

We have a week holiday planned at the later end of August and a 4 day break away at the beginning of the holiday (late July) in our caravan at the seaside. Whilst husband is off work
other than that nothing else definetly booked , I do have 2 free tickets to the local soft play so probably will spend a day there but I just need some other ideas or I know what will happen the TV will be on and were be at home waiting for husband to rescue me

Have you got any plans/ideas yet

We will use memberships (NT, EH, zoo, theme park) for most days out.

Also planning cinema, local beach, London museums, camping, seaside resorts.

We write all our days out of separate pieces of paper, fold them up, and take turns choosing one (usually the night before, but sometimes on the day).

I’ve got 3 weeks off, finally leaving the horrendous job (in education!) and starting mid august. We’re away for the first 2 weeks and then the third week we’re going to see family one day, Thorpe park one day and ds is having some friends over for a play and maybe a sleepover.
i find the 6 weeks is a long hard boring slog towards the end usually!

Sorry, that should have said ‘starting my new job mid august’!

While I'm working mornings throughout July, DD will be in morning sports clubs (one week tennis, one week rugby, one swimming and one kayaking, all roughly the same prices) 9-1pm.

Late July camping one week.

August ten days at friend's house (empty) in some mountains with a pool, we'll take the dog, escape the heat.

Other free days will be hiking, swimming, picnicking, sleepovers with friends. And chilling at home. Until school starts. We've broken up already, DD has 74 days!

I think some routine is a good thing in the summer holidays.

Dressed before breakfast then out to the park/ woods/ beach/ library/ town/ NT etc. Cheap picnic lunch either out or in the garden. Chilled afternoon- board games/ films/ play with toys etc. Some reading every day (yes, I'm a teacher). Then helping with dinner.

Where I live, we have 9.5 weeks of holidays! So first week is dance camp in the mornings, walks/picnics/bike rides in the afternoons. Second week is a week of just doing our own thing - we try to get out every morning and live in a city with lots to do so museums, walks, nearby beach, cycling, parks, picnics, or some kind of food treat. Afternoons are more for crafts, reading, music practice, games etc. Week three is a week away on holiday. Week four - some time at home, and a different dance camp on the days I work. Week five - mixed sports camp with a friend. Week six - wildlife camp with a friend. Week six - art workshops on the days I'm working. Rest of the weeks similar to week two. We'll also try to fit in some playdates and trips outside of our immediate area.

4 Dc under 7 here and putting my plans together today. Visits to a few National Trust places, will use our Imperial War Museum membership at least once. A few days out at the coast. Garden camping, camp at the nearby farm park, picnic and a bike ride to a few local areas and a bit of canoeing on the local river. Tour of the local parks, cinema trip for older three. We have a week in Norfolk booked too. We are fortunate to have a pool so will use that lots and booked a few 1/2 days at the Dc’s gym for skill sessions, and a few Beaver sessions too. Lots of Lego buildings & films and a few craft bits to get for days when the weather is off or we feel like a home day. Planning on doing the library reading challenge too, as Dc1 struggles come September if I don’t t keep up the reading. Trying to keep the costs down this year.

Lots of days out planned. Two weeks in France in late August. We're in Central London so we'll make the most of the attractions here - South Ken museums, British Museum, Diana playground, Olympic Park, Tower of London, soft play, trampolining, fountains, the zoo, free live entertainment by the river and lots of free outdoor festivals. Have tickets booked for a few theatre shows. We'll do day trips to the seaside, Legoland, Epping Forest, Kew, Bekonscot, activity farms. We get out every day.
