How do I shift this bastard cough?

I've been coughing for a week now and it's dreadful. I feel like I'm honestly going to do some serious damage to my ribs and/or pelvic floor!

It's not Covid as I've had 5 negative LFTs but it's worse than I was when I actually had covid. I don't feel too bad otherwise but it gets worse at night or if I'm on public transport. You can imagine the looks I get when I take the bus, even though I'm masking up!

Anyone got any remedies? I've tried cough mixture, Vicks on the soles of my feet etc but nothing works 😫

If it's a chest infection it won't just go away with shop bought medication. If it persists you should see your doctor. Coughing persistently can cause stress incontinence

You need the lemsip max with guafenesin in it. It's the only one which worked for coughs.

I had something similar in November, coughing so violently I was wetting myself. It went after two weeks, but was horrendous.

Well my cough is now much better during the day which is at least something. But as soon as I lie down it starts up again, which means I've woken up at 2am the last two days due to coughing 😩 also when I do cough, I get a stabbing pain in my lat. No idea what that's about. In the past I've coughed so hard I strained a chest muscle but this is a new one for me.

Hayfever nasal spray can help reduce inflammation in the back of the throat even if its not caused by hayfever.
