Quorn bolognaise left out...

Ok it's one of these...

I made a quorn bolognaise yesterday and put the pan in cold water in the sink to cool, and promptly forgot so it's been there all night.

Was covered, the water it was in is cold still, but obviously it was a warm night.

Only I eat it, it's not for dd. What to do....

I wouldn't

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 23/06/2022 06:18

If it was meat or chicken I'd say not. But it's not so I'd go for it. Just make sure it's piping hot before serving to kill off any bacteria.

pompomseverywhere · 23/06/2022 06:20

'Cook to kill'
Reheat to piping hot.

Bighairydogs · 23/06/2022 06:20

I totally would. Quorn is hardcore stuff! On another note, have you tried Linda McCartney mince? I think it’s much easier to cook with that Quorn as it’s less mushy.

stillherenow · 23/06/2022 06:21

It cost £1.50 for the quorn so perhaps not worth the risk! So annoying as I glanced in the kitchen last night to check I'd put it away and didn't see it !

I need to start putting a reminder on my phone

I've just bought a day of the week pill storage case as I keep forgetting if I've taken my medication. I'm getting old .

Ah just read the other replies. Maybe then...

I got really bad food poisoning once from chickpea casserole (not left out!!) which does make me think twice. It was bad

I've left meat bolognese out on the (turned off) hob overnight and then eaten it. Never been ill from it.

stillherenow · 23/06/2022 06:25

My ex would always leave meat casseroles out overnight and we were never sick. But then he was a dick.

I had food poisoning once from quorn, it was horrific. Slightly different situation to you though, had been in fridge several days and if I'm honest I don't think I heated it fully ( was rushing).

milkysmum · 23/06/2022 06:30

I always leave Bolognese/ stew / curry's etc out over night. It will be absolutely fine.

converseandjeans · 23/06/2022 06:31

I think you need to let food cool down at room temperature. So putting in cold water seems like a strange thing to do. I don't think I would eat it.

Rubygloomy · 23/06/2022 06:31

Where did you get quorn for £1.50?!

BuanoKubiamVej · 23/06/2022 06:37

It will be totally fine. Quorn isn't nearly the same kind of risk as meat. We regularly do this quite deliberately as we make a big pot of quorn chilli or bolognese and it's still far too hot to put in the fridge come bed time, so it stays out and we fridte it in the morning.

ClinkeyMonkey · 23/06/2022 06:37

I wouldn't even hesitate to eat it. I leave stuff out by mistake all the time. When I was growing up, soups and stews were left sitting on the hob and reheated and eaten over a couple of days. Not suggesting anyone does this, but we all survived!

PizzaPatel · 23/06/2022 06:39

I also would eat it- I leave things overnight all the time

Username917778 · 23/06/2022 06:45

I leave quorn chilli out on a weekly basis and I've survived thus far. As long as its heated up enough.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 23/06/2022 06:47

We always cook meals for 2 nights. We leave it in the pan on the hob overnight, never in the fridge. We've always been fine!

ShirleyPhallus · 23/06/2022 06:57

I’d also eat it, will be absolutely fine

And nothing wrong with cooking things down in a pan of water instead of leaving them on the side

TenThousandSpoons · 23/06/2022 07:00

I would. Just heat it up really hot.

I wouldn’t if it was meat bolognaise.

stillherenow · 23/06/2022 07:02

Ok as it's just me I'm going to live dangerously...

Half a pack of frozen quorn , one pack is £3!

JennyForeigner · 23/06/2022 07:07

As it's just you should be fine. You can push it too far though. My dad is a doctor and he says the truly bad food poisoning he has seen is vegetarian food because people get cocky!
