Fair price from solicitor ; how do I know they are not overcharged me?

Is there any industry standard I can check? I want a lease by reference for a commercial property. This means not a whole new lease, just a legal way of extension what we have. My original lease five year's ago cost about £1000, it's very thick.
I've been quoted 1250 + vat for lease by reference??

Surely it can't be correct? But how can I tell?

You got an astonishing bargain 5 years ago. Also - is there more than just a lease? Eg 1954 act exclusion stat dec / rent deposit deed / stamp duty calculation and payment / registration at the land registry?

Really Attila? This is what most solicitors were charging!

Isn't there a sort of industry standard charge list anywhere? To make sure they charge fairly?

No, each firm will have its own schedule of rates but it depends on the firm and level of qualification of the solicitor who will be dealing with it.
