Pinpoint rash that looks like a bruise but dd swears she hasnt hurt it?

My 10 year old came in to my room to say goodnight and i noticed she had a red mark on her chest - i didnt notice the one on her chin but half an hour later i noticed the chin marks. They are pinprick marks - they dont fade but i assume its some kind of injury rather than anything else as she is totally well.

She swears she hasnt done anything or hurt it and has no idea where it came from but of course my anxious mum mind is whirring now i didnt notice any marks when we went out around 7pm the only thing i can think she has done since then is some handstands but she didnt fall or bump herself!

this is a normal thing right? I dont need to be worrying about this??

i have added a picture - i tried to make it as decent as possible for her privacy! You cant really see much but the mark under her chin is basically the same. The first mark i saw was on her chest then later under her chin i have no idea what the larger red mark is she DID have that earlier tbh i thought it looked like a bite so its probably not related!

If they are not fading then you need her checked out ASAP (I would suggest A and E)

I would call NHS 111 right now. They will assess her and tell you what to do. My asthmatic son had a really bad chest infection last month and they got mean appt with the out of hours GP within 30 mins.

They are a bit rubbish when it's not urgent (minor complaints) but if it's a child and you say about the rash they will get you sorted so quickly.

I work in a hospital and the last place you want to be right now is A&E if you don't need to be as it's so busy and hot and covid city! Xxx

Good luck x

Are there any others on other parts of her body?

Looks to me like she's got too hot and either she's rubbed or scratched, or clothing was too tight and chafed.

But I am not a doctor, and if it fails the glass test, then you should probably call 111

justasking111 · 21/06/2022 23:15

I used to get this from scratching. It's very hot she may be scratched herself

Squiff70 · 21/06/2022 23:57

Looks like she's scratched it. If I scratch certain areas of my body, instead of red skin, I get hundreds of tiny purple bruises under the skin which could be mistaken for something sinister.

Keep an eye on your daughter and ask her to tell you if she develops any new symptoms but apart from that I wouldn't worry. If in doubt, show a pharmacist.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/06/2022 23:59

Unless she's unwell I wouldn't call a doctor. Looks like she scratched herself.

Looks like a bite she’s scratched.

The NHS guidance for these rashes is clear, I would follow it. It should be checked.

DD (11) gets these. Heat rashes or skin irritation. Look exactly like that.

First time it happened we went to A and E on advice of 111 because they failed the glass test but now we're used to it.

Tee20x · 22/06/2022 07:21

I also get these from scratching esp if I scratch after having a bath or something.

AvaCallanach · 22/06/2022 07:23

Check her lower legs for similar.

Any blood blisters in her mouth?

There's a condition called ITP where the child appears well, but platelets are low. My son had it. It tends to show on lower legs. Attaching pic of son's ITP rash.

My teen dd gets these from time to time. She is never ill with them and they fade away after a few days. This is a photo of the first time she had it. It was on her chin so I wondered whether it was some form of teenage spottiness. Other patches have mostly been on her torso. As she has always been entirely well with the rash, they don't spread, hurt or itch, and they fade away spontaneously, I have never taken her to the doctor about them.

About a year after she started having these rashes, she was hospitalised for a serious infection that was completely unrelated. But she had masses of blood tests and nothing other than the infection showed up. She had several blood tests after she had recovered as well. The only thing that showed was VitD deficiency, which was treated. None of this changed the frequency of the rashes. She had a patch 2-3 times a year for about 3 years, and hasn't had one for about a year. She's now nearly 20. We assume that it's a puberty thing.
