King bed for nearly 3 year old?

Any cons? We’ve changed our bed and now we have a spare king size.. we was going to get her a double but since we already have the king we thought we may just keep it for her?

it takes up a large space in her room.. but her room consists of her bed, a bedside table and a reading corner.. she doesn’t need play space because I keep her bedroom and play space separate for easier and more relaxed bedtimes, all her toys, soft play ect are in the play room - so space isn’t an issue really.

are there any other cons to her having a much bigger bed? Whenever I used to leave her sleeping in it she’s look like a little ladybug, so tiny in a huge space 🙈

Sounds like the bed is too big for the room tbh. I would definitely not give up all the floor space because do tend to have more toys in their room as they get older. Are you planning a second baby? My 5YO has all of her choking hazard toys, mostly Sylvanians and lego, in her room to keep them away from her younger brother. And she can have playdates with her friends without him trying to crash the party, as little brothers are known to do. When she gets older she’ll want a desk for homework too. We went with a double bed for her- guests can use the room if needed, you can still get kids bedding, she’s very comfy, but there’s still loads of space for playing.

We did the same thing. No point getting rid of a big bed to replace with a single if there is space for it.

You can get the waterproof mattress protectors cheap in asda. They also do lots of funky bedding in bigger sizes these days.
It doesn't need to be expensive. The difference between sizes is a few quid and you can get a king size set for around £20.

DD has always had a double. However when we moved her bedroom in one of our houses, she requested a single. We kept the double for guests/sleepovers as she and her friends prefer bed sharing for sleepovers.

My 9 yo has a normal double since straight out the cot. We really like it, she moves about a lot in her sleep so she's never fallen out of bed as a result.

I also get in every night for a cuddle and bedtime reading which I love. I can't think of downsides unless as pp have said space is an issue. My dd room is
big so has lots of play space plus she has a playroom so haven't had issues with space perhaps we wouldn't have this bed if there wasn't enough space to play. Saying that she plays on the bed too.

Thanks all, pretty mixed opinions here. I think we’ll keep it for now until we run into a time when we need to put her into a double for whatever reason.

We do have plenty of space; the room is big enough to fit her bed, the bedside table, a space to walk around the bed and then the other side of the room had space for a cot for when we eventually put the baby in with her to share. - We both shared and then had our own rooms as kids and I never slept in my own room even when I had one, I would always go into my brothers room until he started secondary school really. So my thinking is to have them share, then they have the play room which is a much larger room, so when they eventually ask for their own rooms we can move DD into the play room and by that point they’re likely old enough to not need as much policing with toys and bedtime.

r.e kids bedding - her room is safari themed so we’ve not had too much issues finding a jungle/safari themed bedding.. also very neutral as I want her to feel relaxed and ready for bed while the playroom is brightly coloured and fun 🙈 so mean.. I know 😂

All of mine went into a double. Simply because it's easier when they're ill and you can jump in with them. A king is no different.

Singles are for later on imo.

My kids have small doubles. My concern would be changing the bedding on a king size when they are sick during the night.
