How busy will Legoland be on Friday?

DC have a teacher training day. Was thinking it might be a good day to go, but then again maybe not if there are lots of school trips and preschoolers there? Last year we went to Peppa Pig world and most of the park was ok, but the Peppa Pig bit was busier than I had hoped.

In my experience during term time it's nice and quiet. I used to live very close by and visited frequently. As long as you check the Scottish summer holidays as I once went and it was very busy due to this. Otherwise you'll be fine, enjoy!

makeminealargeplease · 20/06/2022 22:34

Also, I've never once seen a school trip there.

Happycow · 20/06/2022 22:36

Shouldbe nice and quiet, but check what rides are opened. I was planning on going a couple of weeks ago but was put off by rides still being shut.

Do you think it would be manageable with just me and a 7 and 4 year old, or will we suffer from not having DH around to even out seating arrangements and/or look after DD while me and DS go on faster rides?

I have experienced the Scottish holidays thing so that is worth checking. Also one time with several school groups but I think that was nearer to the end of term. It still wasn't that bad - they seemed to go around in groups so if they were all in the queue for one ride we just went for another one and came back later

I disagree with the above. I think it will be crazy busy. Loads of schools have this random tt day, Fridays seem to be peak day for school trips. We did a Friday in June pre covid and it was fucking awful, at least as busy as a summer holiday but with less staff.

Crikeyalmighty · 20/06/2022 22:43

Hopefully not that busy as I live 2 minutes away!! Wave at me OP!!

Regarding being on your own, check the height requirements to go on alone - if 7 year old is tall enough to ride alone while you go with 4 year old you should be able to do it lot (as 4 year old will be able to do most things with an adult). If they both need an adult to go on rides you will be pretty restricted.

Dds school are going this Friday

I went about a month ago but went with SIL who is a pro at legoland so we targeted the usually busiest rides as soon as it opened - shout out to the Atlantis under the sea ride! We loved it more than the kids 😂
Given that you’re taking a preschooler make sure you get the right tickets, during term time it’s £25 for a preschooler and adult and then you’d have to add your 7yo on separately so might be cheaper that way?
The pirate show was great (lunchtimeish)
Not all the food stands were open but we took a packed lunch instead.
I can think of at least three of the rides that you could go on with two kids and you, but some of the slightly bigger ones you would struggle with.
Some of the wait times were building up later into the day (20 mins or so) but a lot of them are geared to keeping kids entertained while you wait, the Indiana Jones ride had a whole section of the queue set aside with a screen showing Lego movies.

Hmm, I'm not feeling convinced, not sure if I want the risk of large crowds. Maybe a weekend in September or October would be better?

It will be quieter than the weekends and school holidays.

This link should take you to the data for how busy it was last Friday for comparison. But obviously if lots of schools have teacher training days this Friday then it might be busier (also closer to end of term so probably more trips). Hope it helps, good luck deciding!

mrsfoof · 20/06/2022 23:42

We went a few years ago on the last Friday in June as the DCs had a staff training day at school. It was busier than I was expecting to be honest - we had to queue 20+ mins for most things. Still much quieter than school holidays though!

With these ages, you could really do with one adult per child unless they're happy with the more sedate rides or your older child is very confident and happy to sit alone (although check they meet the minimum height to do so).

LEGOLAND is the worst park for 1ad2ch as they're stupidly strict with seating arrangements so I'd wait until DH can join you.

Also I'm in the Merlin Passholder group and yesterday it was full of moans about how busy the park were.

And I know there will be more school trips and insets this week, Friday especially. So I'd expect it to be busier than a weekend.

I avoid inset days at Merlin parks as everyone has the same idea and they're mega crowded.
