“Standard/double room for sole use only”

I’m trying to book for one adult and one child.

I think it’s a booking for one person only in the room - the price is probably cheaper than two people occupying the room. Can you specify one adult one child?

if not you might need to book a room specifying two people even if one is a child. Are you booking direct or via a third party

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 14:37

@strawberry12345 child is 9 years old. I’m booking a package holiday via jet2 website. I’ve entered one adult and one child and this is the option that’s come up.

As far as I know it means for the use of the person/people named on the booking form.

When I put 2 adults the price increases, tried calling them but huge waiting time

@bloodywhitecat so my and child should be fine to book, there won’t be any issues when we arrive? I’d hate to get there to be told something else

It will be for sole occupancy only. You won't be able to book it for you and your DC.

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 14:42

Me and child I meant

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 14:43

@KnitOnePearlOneDropOne why does it show up as an option when I search for a package for me and a child though

OP posts:
PerfectlyQuiet · 20/06/2022 14:47

I'd want to have that clarified if I were you. I'd want something in writing saying it's ok for you and your child.

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 14:49

@PerfectlyQuiet that’s what I’m thinking

I think if it was for you, not child, would say double room for single use. But in this case, they are saying ‘you and child, no other adult’. Get them on their online chat; Jet2 are very good normally.

LIZS · 20/06/2022 15:04

Sole use means a single occupant. Whether a child counts as a second occupant is up to hotel.

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 15:05

@Blowthemandown I tried to find an online chat but couldn’t. I messaged them via WhatsApp but will be a while before they respond. Just don’t understand why they’d show that hotel as an option for one adult and one child unless they could accommodate us?

MumbleAlwaysMumble · 20/06/2022 15:13

I’d have thought this meant only the people who booked the room could use it tbh…

It doesnt make sense to have a booking system where you put two people (regardless of two adults or one adult plus one child) and then say only one person can use it…..

MumbleAlwaysMumble · 20/06/2022 15:16

This seems to confirm that

www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/sole-use

Look at the second definition

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 15:17

@MumbleAlwaysMumble isn’t it? It just seems odd to show that as a bookable option. Frustrating that I can’t actually book until it’s confirmed by them.

OP posts:
2bazookas · 20/06/2022 15:17

For the same room, they charge different rates for one occupant and two occupants. Normal practice.

As there are two of you, they'll charge the double rate not the solo rate.

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 15:18

@MumbleAlwaysMumble yes I would like to think that second definition applies here

Have you added your child’s age yet?

looking on Jet2’s website at a ‘double/twin room for sole use’ and it states under the picture ‘minimum occupancy 1/maximum occupancy 1 (plus 1 infant’s). So I’m wondering whether, it’s defaulting to that room description without age on there

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 20/06/2022 15:28

My guess would be it's a double room for 1 person only

Blowthemandown · 20/06/2022 15:36

@curriculum I definitely reckon it is one adult and a child up to a certain age only. You could try it by changing the child's age. But I would also want to be sure.

Curriculum · 20/06/2022 16:02

@Rememberallball I put the age in and then it gave me that option
