Hubby and job interview- what's your thoughts?

Long story short, DH went for an interview on Tuesday morning of last week. It was an initial screening type interview with the internal HR person. For clarity he met all the criteria and would be more than able to do the job ( just throwing that in incase it matters) Was told he'd hear towards end of week, beginning of next week. So it obviously now Monday. I can't talk to him as he has literally had 100 interviews This past year without any success so is very down about it all. So my question is if you're an interviewer and you think someone is a good fit, would you keep them dangling on regardless if there are people still to be interviewed? What's your thoughts ? When would you expect to hear?

I'd love him to be successful, it's his dream job so it makes the wait all the more anxious

Hi, sorry I hadn't check this post again but basically the up date is- on Wednesday afternoon he still hadn't heard anything so he emailed the HR Person who basically told him that he had forwarded hubby's CV onto the person that will be conducting next stage interview but is still waiting to hear back from him once he has finished reviewing the rest of the CVS that the HR person had put forward. The aim was to have interviews set up by the end of the week but I'm now well aware that everything moves so slowly so he may not hear until next week ( frustrating)

I interviewed last summer. Because of scheduling issues the process took longer than expected, and so the first candidate I interviewed who was strong was not going to hear back on the time frame I had suggested. I had to battle with HR to keep them updated on the scheduling change, it seems that it’s not something they are used to doing, and would have left him hanging. Our policy is that all contact goes through HR so I didn’t have the option to let him know myself. So it could easily be something like thay

You're all just the best for such encouraging words. Hopefully we hear either way soon if there willl be any further progress. It's the waiting/ not knowing that's the hard part. I'll definitely keep you all updated! Continue with all those fingers crossed 🤞 xxx

I’m wondering whether it’s worth him going through recruiters?
Not sure whether it’s the industry but every position DP (or I) have applied for have been laborious, mid-senior tech jobs.
Positions with direct recruitments (where a recruiter has put us forward) very quick. They usually hire recruiters because it’s difficult to find direct apply candidates. Might be worth a shot?

rubberhead · 24/06/2022 08:28

@DomPerignon12 thanks very much for your msg. DH has been using recruiters where the job has been advertised through one ( I hope that's what you mean) although this particular position was advertised directly through the company itself. He is on a few recruiters'books' atm so if this doesn't work out we'll take it from
There. Just seems so hard to stand out from the crowd ( DH is also on the younger side so has done v well in his career but has almost peaked too early and now recruiters are flooded with candidates with x years experience more than him)

What’s an executive level job?

rubberhead · 24/06/2022 08:47

@greenmoney he is a CIO. Basically executive level is a 'C' level job so CEO Etc.

Ah I understand! Sounds like he’s still in with a chance and I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

FinallyHere · 24/06/2022 09:15

so if this doesn't work out we'll take it from

What would you risk by getting on and investigating other roles while you wait for this one? It makes the wait much easier if you have other irons in the fire. Who knows, an even better role might appear.

rubberhead · 24/06/2022 09:21

@FinallyHere sorry I should state that there is nothing else out there atm. Of course that coukd change today etc. He's been consistently applying ( just with not much luck atm)

I'd like to think that the candidate is also 'shaking the bushes' following up for a quick coffee or just chat with everyone he knows in the industry.

Not asking for a job, but asking contact for their thoughts on the current state of the industry , or sector and where they see it going in future.

Finish up with anyone else to talk to.

This provides research (alongside the reading he will be doing to keep up to date with the business) on what the current successes and pinch points are. At some point one of those people might say 'we need someone like you to help with' or xxx are expanding and are looking for someone like you.

I'm not advocating skipping the standard HR process, just going into it with a recommendation rather than cold. It's absolutely the most successful way to recruit (though it doesn't necessarily prevent the usual hr holdups).

It can be treated as a full time job, and who knows what opportunities it might throw up.

Still haven't heard anything btw, still not sure if this is good or not but we shall see lol
