Home alone... what shall I watch on Netflix or Prime??

So DH is travelling abroad and DD is out at her boyfriend's house, meaning that I am home alone for the evening. I've had a challenging few weeks and I'm feel8ng slightly under the weather, but quite looking forward to an evening on the sofa with the remote. Just wondering what to watch.

I really fancy something easy like a good romcom or just a nice feelgood film of some sort. Nothing too heavy, I just want an easy watch, but not something that I have seen before (I appreciate that this isn't helpful because you have no idea what I have and haven't seen!). Must have a happy ending!! Any suggestions please?

Have Amazon Prime and Netflix at the ready, but I'm prepared to pay extra to stream a film not on either if there is something really worth watching!

Thanks in advance for all suggestions!!

I would personally gorge on the entire first series of This Is Us on Prime if I hadn't watched it all already.

or Clarksons Farm

Or the Marvellous Mrs Maisel

I feel like you are wanting films though?

She's the man, she's all that,

I’m bingeing the final series of Workin’ Mom on Netflix. I’d recommend you start from the beginning.

The new Adam Sandler film on Netflix called Hustle is good 👍

I've just rediscovered the no.1 ladies detective agency on prime. Love it!

Dead to me on Netflix!!

I love Dead To Me, very darkly funny in places, but I think thematically it is quite heavy.

Pride is fantastic

ILIWYS · 19/06/2022 18:49

Both aimed at teens really but To All The Boys I've Loved Before (film) and Heartstopper (series) are both lovely and feel-good.

I second Pride, also Made in Dagenham or Hidden Figures. All true stories with a YES!!!!!! at the end 🙂
Hacks is also brilliant, or Detectorists for gentle, subtle humour.

Heart stopper real feel good series on Netflix
Workin moms from the start obv

Senior year is a very silly fun enjoyable film aimed squarely at late 30s women

The Other One is on iPlayer but I think it’s on Netflix too. It’s very heartwarming and easy going, along the lines of Motherland and Alma isn’t Normal

swanfake · 19/06/2022 19:04

I second Pride if you want feel good factor.

I always watch it when it's on Netflix or prime.
Lived in Wales for a bit and it makes me really nostalgic for the valleys.

Hairspray is on Netflix and that's definitely feel good with a happy ending, the songs are really catchy too.

SatinHeart · 19/06/2022 19:12

Not sure about films but DH has been away this week and I've been binge watching Emily in Paris on Netflix. It's a very easy watch!

On these sort of threads I always recommend ‘About Time’ which I think is free on Prime at the mo. Such a lovely film - don’t let the time travel idea put you off!
