... go on holiday by yourself.

Because I am. Next month. Pissing off to Snowdonia with my hiking boots, mountain bike and a couple of good novels. I am also taking a shiny brand new laptop in the hope the Welsh countryside will inspire me to finally start writing my own.

I shall walk by the lakes, cycle, shop and explore my arse off. I will also indulge in some nice meals in some cozy looking restaurants.

So there 😌

Go on ladies. Book something x

@Testina
For me it's age dependent. If you're travelling before you've had any long relationships, so say twenties for most, it's easy, you've never known any other way.
Then, a LTR, and you get stuck in your roles - he does the driving, he pitches the tent, she makes the tent all nice etc.
So, AFTER a LTR, it's much more daunting.

I keep meaning to do this - but abroad. But think I’m just scared to….

arethereanyleftatall · 19/06/2022 17:34

Go for it @Loadedforest

I was scared two months ago. Kept procrastinating.

All booked now. And so far, im very proudly boasting about it, to anyone who'll listen.

It's weird, it shouldn't be a big thing, but depending on what's led you here, it can be. And, that's fine.

Do it!

Where do you live? The 1950s?

Yes @ItDoesMyHeadIn you have inspired me to get my plan to do this into reality. I've wanted to sit on a beach in a peaceful place abroad for an age and haven't had the oomph to book. Any intrepid solo travellers got any good companies they use ? From what I've so far on the main package sites I'll just have to pay for 2 people as all the rooms are for 2 (with sometimes a 30 or 50 discount). Am I missing something?

I find this post oddly patronising.

I'm struggling at the moment so I've just booked a trip to Edinburgh for 3 days (fly up) then going to use trains to travel a little of Scotland before I make my way down the country home (mid England)

As a sort of compromise, for people who may be anxious about travelling alone, I used to go on holidays with companies like Solo's or Exodus - where you go alone but are part of a group once there. There were always like minded people, but there was no pressure to spend all your time with people from the group if you didn't want to. If I had more money now I'd definitely do those type of holidays again.
