Learning to swim as an adult- can it be done in a month?!

Hi,
A friend has very kindly invited me to stay with her during the hols. She has a pool and I thought this is my chance to finally learn how to swim. I was dunked in the pool as a child and have been fearful every since.

I can swim with a float but I really would like to be able to use my arms. Any tips gratefully received...is it even possible?!

I think if you can afford it it would probably help to have a few one to one swimming lessons before you go. Then you can use the month to practice and build on that?

I was an adult non-swimmer. Over the years, several non-professionals had tried and failed to teach me to swim. I went to a class for adult learners, and I was swimming by the second session - all it took was an actual professional to give me correct coaching ... so I'd say Yes, it's entirely possible to learn to swim in a month - if you can't find any adult group lessons, just book yourself a few one-to-one lessons with a swimming coach. Good luck - I'm sure you will manage it. It's dead easy, really!
