Are you thinking about back up childcare for this Autumn?

Just looking on the news about possible teachers’ strikes for Autumn and wondering about putting contingency plans in place.

DP works full time. I work 0.8. It’s very tough when kids are ill etc because we have no family who can help. Strike days in the mix of normal winter bugs are going to make things more challenging.

I’m thinking maybe of looking on Bubble and getting the kids to know a couple of people on there, whom we could then call on if we needed them?

but wondering if anyone has any other ideas!

Buddy up with other parents - if there were 5 of you then each of you could look after the group for 1 day a week that you don't work/take as leave?

Also, how old are dc and can you wfh? Dd has become surprisingly self-sufficient through covid and if we set up enough activities at the end of the day, she can entertain herself for quite a good chunk of the day. I also set some of her birthday presents aside to get out during the summer holidays, but could get some out of she had to stay off of school for a while.

What teachers’ strikes? We haven’t been balloted about any so they’re a while off if any do happen.
