The Crazy Step-Father
Parents can come up with all sorts of make-believe rules and reasons. All you can do is agree with them. This guy shares that they weren't allowed to use the front door. Their stepdad kept the key, and even visitors had to go to the back through the side gate

His stepdad told them only cops use the front door. Anyone who came to the front was automatically suspicious of him. So, they were to never answer the door to strangers.

I don't open the door. My friends know this. If someone knocks 9n the door, I don't answer it.

I'm autistic and find dealing with people on the doorstep very stressful. I haven't had time to prepare for having a conversation with someone.

If someone sends me a text half an hour before hand, then I can cope with that. I wouldn't just turn up on someone else's door step either.

But I feel abject panic when I hear the door bell go.

I have ADHD and dyspraxia. At work and with the kids, I am organised (have to be!) and hard working but the house is more of a struggle and I tend to flop from the strain of maintaining my seemingly organised life. Basically the house is often a bit of a mess and I need two hours notice in order to run around tidying. Generally I invite people over when either the cleaner has come or I have dedicated time to getting it all cleaned up. Even friends and family would have no idea this is something I’m super anxious about and probably think my house is super clean and tidy - as that is how they see it!
