How to get our almost 3yo to go back to sleepy in his own bed

Our 3yo refuses to sleep in his cot again (we have tried toddler beds before but he's an escapa artist). We went away to visit family and because there wasn't anywhere for him to sleep, he ended up sleeping with us. He had jetlag for about 10 days but he seems ok now he just refuses to go back. Even if we carry him to his room he'll wake up and cry like we're to torture him.

One of ours went through a stage like this. We couldn’t get a good night’s sleep with them in our bed with us as they star- fished and we kept waking up. So we moved their toddler bed into our room and that worked well. I can’t remember how long it was for. They were our third child after a bit of gap so we were more relaxed about just doing what we needed to do to maximise sleep without them feeling sad. We moved them into a room with their sibling next. They’re 7 now & have been in their own room for years so it was quite a short phase looking back.

Our room is to small to have his bed in here but can possibly fit the travel cot

So he's in a cot at age 3? what's the issue with escaping a toddler bed - just out a stair gate either in bedroom door or top of stairs? To be honest I think that's far too old and probably why he doesn't want to be in there - would you want to look up at bars at night?

He loves his cot! We're going to turn it back into a bed today but he moves everywhere and keeps falling off the bed (any bed) so the cot helps in that way

I thought you said he was refusing to go in his cot so he can't love it that much?!😂

Have you got toddler bed rails to keep him in? IME after a couple of nights of falling out they learn pretty quick not to do the acrobatics and 360 degree spins they did in the cot

He's refusing to not sleep with us....
