Tragic question about washing line

Is there such a thing as a rotary clothes airer that you can (easily) remove from the ground and put away?

Just moved into a new house and there’s a hole for a rotary airer in the ground but I hate how they look. Surely there must be an option to remove it and put in the garage when you’re not using it?

On a side note, this is a worrying moment when I realised that I AM in fact my mother 😂

Argos do their own version for £40 as a cheaper option.

Thanks guys, there’s already a spike in the ground but it doesn’t have a cap. Sounds like I can just buy any airer and remove it when not using it.

knew mumsnet would have the answer!

We remove our rotary line regularly. We only have a small lawn so just put it out when we need it and put away when we don't. I thought everyone did 🤔

No, far too lazy for that malarky!!

@Littlemisspiggy21 IME the little bastards tangle unless you strap them before lifting them out.

We've been in this house for 20 years and have never removed the whirly. Just fold it up when it's not in use.

I have a large brabantia rotary line and fold it down, put the cover on and store in garage every day after use. Keeps it clean and free of spiders. It isn't very heavy to move (I easily carry it myself) and it can hold 3/4 loads of washing.
There's a spike in the ground with a red cap that goes on when the line isn't in.

We've had a few over the years. Always lifted them out for grass cutting or to make more space. I think its a standard design!

They're really not that heavy. My mum is still moving hers after use, and she's late 70s.

I move mine too. I've long since lost the cover cap and agree that you don't want to misplace the hole for the airer, so in between mows I sometimes snip at it with scissors.
