Both parents carers for SEN dc

Is anyone else in this situation where neither of you can work due to dc with SEN?

We are so exhausted but took this decision recently and really hoping that it starts to help make things a bit easier. The juggling act had got too hard and we just couldn’t manage unless both of us were here to manage.

i don’t know anyone else in our circle of friends in similar circumstances and just wondering if anyone is doing similar

Single parent here, but yes I am.
Isolating and exhausting isn’t it.

We’ve both gone part-time - it’s the only way we can manage. And even then, we both really need to be around for the mornings and after school. It’s crap.

im a single parent that doesn’t work because of my daughters needs, still get judged as being lazy for not working even though she gets dla and I get carers for her 🙄

Dh only manages to work because he has flexible hours and can work from home. Ds has 2:1 sometimes 3:1 care when elsewhere.

If only people realised it’s as far from lazy as you can get it’s 24/7 relentless and hard hard work.
We just feel like we are constantly teetering on the edge of the next disaster every minute and stress levels are high.

We’ve just cut back and cut back over the last 2-3 years. At first dh was full time I was part time, that wasn’t working so I went self employed to work from home.

Things were still too much so dh went part time. Then he gave up and I’ve given up self employment as we just couldn’t get any work done it was impossible and we were getting physically ill trying to juggle it

I'm a carer to our disabled son and dh works ,but I know other families with 2 or more disabled children ,where both parents are carers, with children who have complex disabilities, it's whatever works for families imo
