Just went outside to the bin ( bog standard large plastic , wheelie bin ) no holes or cracks in it , lid always down to see a mouse in the bottom. How the hell did that get in there ?
Not going out to the bin again 😱

Is the bin empty other than the mouse? If so knock the bin over so it can get out.

AnchorWHAT · 18/06/2022 14:02

Just push it onto its side and let the poor thing out, it cant hurt you.

MayBeee · 18/06/2022 14:04

Dh has done that , I'm still not going that way for a while.

Aww, poor wee thing. Leave it open and tip it so the wee fella can get out.

They really are sweet little things you know. I used to get one in this flat and I slowly gained its trust up until the point it would take food from my hand. Always really gently too, like it was worried it would hurt me.

I think they freak ppl out as they have a tendency to jump out from places xD they cant see well, maybe that's how it misjudged the bin situation. Help him out. Don't be scared.

Poor mouse! Tip the bin over and open the lid to set it free. If it has been in there since the high temperatures yesterday I'll be very dehydrated!

ArtVandalay · 18/06/2022 14:08

Don't leave it in there - it will be stressed out.

Gently tip the bin over.

BattenburgDonkey · 18/06/2022 14:09

The mouse will be terrified and run away OP, they aren’t scary creatures, hopefully it’s long gone be now.

One came in our bedroom window in our old flat…2 stories up! I was in bed reading when it did. Took hours to catch the poor thing and set it free outside!

Oh I love mice. I'd have brought him in and kept him as a pet.
