just that really. Any good ones that are cheap as chips meals? DC off to 1st year at uni and with the way things are going we won’t be able to subsidise as much as we hoped.

'A girl called Jack' by Jack Monroe. My favourite budget cookbook at home. I bought a copy for my daughter when she started Uni.

Another one to suggest Cooking on a Boot Strap.

It is Birmingham performers. Thank you that is very kind, they don’t have halls. I am waiting on accommodation list.

I was looking at Jack Monroe or Miguel Barclay.

My dd (she's just finishing her first year at uni) told me that all of her flat mates arrived with lovely prepared books that their parents (mums I assume) had put together filled with the recipes of their favourite home cooked meals and dinners from their time growing up.

No pressure there then.

(but it would be cheap if you did pull something together...).

I like Jamie's Ministry of Food actually, or I have a 5 ingredient vegan one that is really easy.

It would be worth him looking for community pantries in the area. This one for example charges £3.50 a week membership fee and for that you can go in and fill a basket with whatever food you want that they have.

Good ideas, thank you

not sure my creative skills would stretch to a home made book but I will trial a load out with him over the summer holidays from a book

just ordered 4 for £20 off Amazon bargain!

I never thought about a community pantry, excellent idea
