Have the police prosecuted a crime you were the victim of?

DH got scammed for about £130 on the internet. He reported it to the police. It took about a year, but the police investigated and then prosecuted. DH was the only victim (or only one daft enough to fall for it). The guy was found guilty. We are honestly so surprised that it was taken seriously.

BTW we are in a Scandinavian country, not the uk. But I am interested if anyone else reported a crime to the police and it lead to a prosecution.

Yes when I had a stalker about 15 years ago

Just to clarify- it’s the CPS that decides if there will be a prosecution, not the police.

quite often the police will work and put a case together, for the CPS to say it isn’t worth pursuing.

Sorry, i don't know the exact legal process. But I mean a crime resulting in it going to court.

It is great that your stalker got prosecuted CharlesIsQueensHorcrux

Yes. He was found guilty and sentenced to 6 years.

I’ve been sexually assaulted at work 5 times over 6 years
each and every time the police have ‘had a word’ even though there is clear cctv and proves I’m telling the truth
no pressing charges-just ‘a word’ and work ban them (until they walk in again)

Been burgled three time, all three times they caught, prosecuted and jailed the burglars.

Good to hear crimes are being pursued.

when my car was stolen the police response was “hen do you know there’s a (orange) walk on the day?”

so tip for you all: don’t have your car stolen during marching season

My friend bought tickets for a gig from a young 18 year old girl who tried to pul ll a fast one and sell tickets she didn't have for a gig. About 6 people got caught. This was about 10 years ago.

The girl was so stupid and lax about her personal online safety information as were her relatives that we were literally able to hand the police a document with her name, address, email, phone number, her uni contact details, the course, her fully open Facebook where she'd bragged about it (🤦🏻‍♀️), her "photography" Facebook. We could have given them even more as it was all their laid out and open.

We essentially did their job for them, the policewoman my friend gave a statement too said she couldn't believe how stupid the girl had been having it all out there just waiting to be evidenced.

She still is paying my friend back about 1.50 a month through the court all these years on 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes. I had to attend a line up to identify him. He was a pickpocket, London underground. The day of the trail he pled guilty so I didn't have to testify.
