Gift for young girl ringing end of treatment bell?

Hi,

I have an employee who's DS was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer just before lockdown. They've been through the mill in the few years. She also has twins (all primary age) who have ongoing health conditions including severe food restrictions.

Her DS is due to ring the end of treatment bell next week, I'm so so pleased for them all!

I'd like to send a gift to mark the occasion but I'm a bit stumped...

  • She works remotely at the other side of the country so needs to be online delivery
  • flowers are out because they go on holiday shortly after
  • food is a no-go due to DT dietary restrictions

What would work as a family gift? Or should I just get something for my employee and/or her DS?

Do they have a garden? Some sort of garden game they could all play like boules, or swing tennis, giant jenga.

Can you give her an extra week annual leave?

An day out or membership to age appropriate theme park/ aquarium/Go Ape/zoo/safari park

You could ask your employee what their DS is into if you are notbworried about it being a surprise.

Not sure how much you want to spend, but a voucher for a beauty treatment, so she can have a bit of a 'recharge and me time'.

This would be the best gift ever!

Child friendly threatre show so they all enjoy the evening together as a family

Cinema tickets or I second something for the garden.

lillyrabbit · 17/06/2022 11:42

A bundle of children's board games that they can all do together - that would be really appreciated in my house (although more annual leave would probably be the best, but may not be possible!)

RestingPandaFace · 17/06/2022 11:57

A voucher for a day out near where they live?

NCed4Help · 17/06/2022 19:45

I second more annual leave.
She will have a holiday as you say but coming back off holiday and then processing all of the stuff that has happened , she may want more time with her family.

Or maybe if she isn't Term Time, an extra weeks holiday in the summer so she can enjoy the time

Sprig1 · 17/06/2022 19:58

Extra leave is a great idea if you can do that. If not then a garden game sounds fun.

Mangledrake · 17/06/2022 20:00

I'd go with a treat voucher of some sort for the whole family - annual leave too if you can do it

Workinghardeveryday · 17/06/2022 20:04

Annual leave, failing that family games. Garden games, or indoor games

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 17/06/2022 20:16

Another here agreeing with annual leave.
