What to do during a weekend in Bath

Going to Bath with my DP for a weekend soon. Not sure what to plan as it’s been a while since I’ve gone, and I find researching and making an itinerary really exhausting tbh 😳 So any recommendations appreciated…

Sally Lunn’s Tea Room is close to the Roman Baths, so definitely combine them in a half-day. The best time to visit the Roman Baths is about 4pm, so either visit Sally’s for afternoon tea beforehand or reserve a table there for dinner.
On another day, I’d suggest started with No 1 Royal Crescent in the morning, walking to The Circus (perhaps lunch at the Boston Tea Party?) and then the Jane Austen Centre in the afternoon.

I like the Fashion Museum too.

There’s a nice circular walk along the canal then up the hill opposite the town. Searching “Bath walks” should find it.
I'd research restaurants and book in advance- DH and I ended up in a disappointing Pizza Express.

Thermae Bath Spa were lovely! They did a twilight package when we were there which included dinner.

I love the spa, sitting at the rooftop level looking over bath while in the warm waters is lovely.

If you want a tour of the roman baths you need to book in advance. Well worth a visit though. I find just mooching about in Bath very satisfying but do get to the crescent and down by the weir.

I did a 2 hour walking tour by a local volunteer. It's organised by council and was free (pre covid so not sure if still going)

I went in august so did the baths in the evening - really quiet compared to how the queues looked during the day

Did the Thermae spa first booking as soon as it opened on the Sunday - was getting busy about halfway through - at the start there was only about 3 of us in the rooftop pool

I had afternoon tea @ the pump house.

Went to 1 The crescent(?) which is set up as an old house- that was worth a visit.

If you are looking for a bit of art/culture, then I highly recommend the Holborne House Museum, which is a beautiful gallery in a Georgian House. Also, No.1 Royal Crescent is worth a visit. It's been refurbished to reflect the period in which it was built and us fascinating.

Masses of good restaurants and pubs to choose from - these are both amazing:

Have a great trip - Bath is gorgeous, with masses to see and do!

I was in Bath a few weeks ago and there was regularly a queue at Sally Lunns, I wasn’t that fussed anyway but be prepared for that and we weren’t there on a weekend.

We walked along the river, Pultney bridge is a nice view. We did the Roman Baths. We did book it though people there that didn’t too, although again a weekend it’s probably advised. Didn’t to the thermae baths in the end but they sound nice.

Have a walk to and around the crescent and Bath.

I think you probably do need to read and research where you want to eat and perhaps book: Bath gets busy!

Thermae spa is lovely but it does get quite busy

We went a couple of years ago and went to a nice Italian restaurant called Amarone; there’s a cool wine bar near it called Vino Vino
