Is Rainbows really worth sticking with?

I'm looking for opinions and experiences with Rainbows. DD1 is only 5 so hasn't been going long, but seems to be loving it so far. However, I've heard alot about Beavers and that it's much better than Rainbows, in the sense that they do a much wider range of activities, with a much bigger focus on outdoorsy stuff. DD wouldn't be able to start until she turns 6, but would I be better off spending my money on sending her to Beavers instead? Her Rainbow unit seems to have a big focus on cooking and arts & crafts, which she loves, but I'd much prefer her to have a bit of action and adventure thrown in too! Thoughts please?

My daughter has moved over to scouts. Far far more active . We'd tried rainbows/brownies as when Id been young We'd done so much and I was a believer in single sex spaces etc....

But we are converted to scouts. This (first half term free) includes so much.

@budgiegirl the lack of volunteers on a regular evening vs a weekend day trip isn't always down to the nature of the activity. I have older DC that need picking up / dropping off from other activities and younger DC that need looking after when DC2 is at Cubs, so I can't often help on a Thursday for our usual meeting night. On a weekend however, DH can have the others so I could help on camp / trip to the beach etc.

I accept this can be true, but in this case, the trip is on a weekday - so some of the parents who have volunteered are having to take a day off work to come. I don't want to sound as though I'm ungrateful, because I'm not, I genuinely do appreciate the help, as otherwise we couldn't go. I'm just commenting that it's funny how they're available for this, but litter picking on a Wednesday evening - not so much! 😁
