Covid jabs and getting 12yo to France in two months

We have a 12 yo who is so far unvaccinated (he only just turned 12). We are booked to go to France in early August.

I think that means we don't have time to get him two jabs - will he be allowed in with just one?

I'm googling and it's all really confusing. I can't work out which is best - give him one jab, or none, as there isn't time for two.

If anyone has recently had a similar dilemma I'd be grateful to know how you resolved it.

Thank you

I’m in a similar situation and as far as I can see my 12yo will have to have a LFT test to go to France. She has had one jab. But won’t have time to get the other before we go (plus you need 14 days after jab for France.

You can just order the tests online and upload them yourself I think.

Am also bearing in mind that regulations are changing all the time. The US literally dropped their requirements just this weekend.

My DD is 13, unjabbed and going to France on Friday. She needs to take a LTF 48 hours before or a PCR 72 hours before. If your DC doesn’t meet requirements as fully jabbed then they’ll need to do the same.

OK thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I consider myself quite intelligent, and can actually speak French, but reading these websites trying to work out what to do is making my head spin!

And good point about regs changing all the time. I will keep an eye open, thank you.

For the LTF does she have to go into a testing centre or can she do a home (private) one?

@EssexCat I admit that part was unclear to me so I’ve erred on the side of caution and booked a test at a Lloyds pharmacy.

Sounds a good plan. I’d agree that bit doesn’t seem very clear.

OP I’m going to wait until a bit nearer the time to sort tests out but am definitely just going to do tests rather than stress about trying to get second jab early.

Thanks @EssexCat - that's excellent advice.

I might book his first jab later on in July so he's got maximum protection when we travel.

For the tests check if the lft is observed or just fit to fly. If the latter I recommend circular one who were very efficient, you do it all online

Thank you @motogirl
