Are you cancelling direct debit to save money?

I've reduced my gas and electricity down to the lowest amount I can pay. I do have some credit as a buffer. I've cancelled my union as that will save 16 quid a month! This saves me 35 quid a month so far !

Just be careful cause you might end up owing the energy company more. Also getting rid of your union can be a risk

How does cancelling DD save you money? I’d not risk missing a payment. It’s a free service.

Sorry I've reduced my dd to ensure it paying the gas and electricity but at the lowest rate I can.

I wouldn't cancel union.

I don't think some people understand direct debits, I've got a friend who doesn't get the price cap/price per unit/ direct debit thing, I've tried explaining but no joy.

I certainly wouldn't be cancelling a trade union membership during this period.....

I’ve cancelled the energy direct debit and will now just pay the bill when it comes, because provider won’t let me set it for less than £160 a month despite my monthly usage having been consistently under £70 per month since the beginning of April. I understand they’re trying to make sure struggling customers have a buffer for winter (or just making sure they have money in their coffers, let’s face it) but I’d rather the excess money was in my bank account than theirs.
