Nutritional Therapy - tummy troubles

I am about to start a business in Nutritional Therapy after studying for four years. I am keen to look at digestive and skin health for women 40+. Would anyone mind telling me please what they may look to see a Nutritional Therapist for and what stomach and skin problems are concerning you the most. Many thanks

I don’t know what a nutritional therapist is but I presume it’s a nutritionist? If I had spare cash I would love to see one. Did fodmap already under nhs dietician and it made my runs and gut discomfort worse!Being a woman in peri menopause I would like to know:

why any artificial sweeteners give me the runs when I used to be fine with them,

why I feel like death after just a couple of alcoholic drinks,

why I get dizzy when I eat anything that’s oily, greasy or dairy, is it gallbladder problems

why my skin gets spotty a couple of times a month when I’ve not had spots in 25 years

why I can’t find a moisturiser that doesn’t give me spots after three days of use (in addition to the other spots, it happens so quickly I know it’s the product causing it)

why my gut is so sensitive nowadays and I have to reduce my fruit and veg intake drastically (from 4 or 5 a day to 1 or 2) or get the runs.

why I can’t shift the extra middle age spread weight round my middle no matter how hard I try.

Hope that helps! My pals have the exact same issues except the gallbladder ones. Thanks.

That is so helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
I have similar issues which is why I started studying.
Nutritional Therapy is all about treating the person and their symptoms in a personalised way. It can involve a dietary change, sometimes supplements and sometimes testing. I will launch my business in September and your post will be really helpful.
Thanks again x

Are you registered with a professional body? Is your degree accredited by a recognised body? I'd need to know that before consulting you.

Also, a low FODMAP diet is incredibly tough to navigate. The Monash University in Australia developed this and they have a helpful app and a really helpful website. Often those FODMAPs sneak in to most of our foods so being as strict as possible for six weeks is vital. Please do no longer though as it excludes so many nutrients we need and really decreases variety. I hope the NHS have helped you with the reintroduction but if not then the advice on the website above should help guide you. Good luck x

Absolutely and good questions. I have studied with BCNH for four years and will have a diploma in Nutritional Therapy. I will be registered with BANT and CNHC.
