WOuld anyone happen to know if there a direct tube from Heathrow to London Kings Cross or do you have to change trains?
Or is there simply a direct train from Heathrow to Kings Cross?

Piccadilly line, as you could have very easily discovered by looking at a tube map online...

katscamel · 14/06/2022 00:53

It's very easy...at least from T2, haven't tried it from the other terminals. It goes straight through to St Pancras/Kings Cross.
The only slightly difficult bit is getting off without running over people's feet with your case, make sure you sit/stand by the door.

BritinDelco · 14/06/2022 00:56

T2 & 3 have the Picadilly line direct, I've used it often. For T5 sometimes the Picadilly line and other times there's a shuttle train

Thank you- was on my cell when I posted this and the entire map would not show when I looked online and I assumed there was more than one option and I was hoping we can do the journey with one train as my daughter is travelling with a new injury so just trying to work out most direct way.

It might be the most ‘direct’ on the Piccadilly Line but it’s long, cramped and a really rattling old line.

She might be more comfortable and quicker on the Hammersmith and City to Paddington then the Heathrow Express. Quicker, more spacious and step free.

Normal circumstances all the Heathrow terminals have a operational Piccadilly line Tube station, timetables did get messed around a bit during Covid but I think it's pretty much back to normal now.

LHR-Kings Cross takes about an hour, it can be a bit cramped/uncomfortable at times especially if hot but it is the most direct way of doing the journey other than taking a cab.

notimagain · 14/06/2022 07:52

Edit to add to before somebody says "ah but for accuracy " : The operational central area terminals (T2/T3 ) share a single station, it's a v short walk from either Terminal to that combined station.

Don't waste you money on the Heathrow express.

If you are going to go to Paddington get the Elizabeth line.

thanks everyone

You need the Piccadilly line, OP. It goes direct from Heathrow to King’s Cross St Pancras, so no need to change trains. Bring a book, though, you will need one. The train is ridiculously slow and stops every few hundred metres.

MrsFezziwig · 15/06/2022 03:37

Is your daughter the child with the broken collar bone? All I would say is that although the Piccadilly Line is direct, it can get very busy. You shouldn’t have a problem getting seats, as you’re starting at the end of the line, but when you come to get off at King’s Cross it can be very busy and there may be some jostling.

Assuming it is open. Which it is not intermittently at the moment for final works on the line.

That's the section between Paddington and Abbey Wood. Heathrow to Paddington is fine and has been open for a good 2 years now, albeit as TfL rail until recently.

Except last Saturday and Sunday when the whole line shut?

It wasn't all shut. The section between Paddington and Abbey Wood was closed.

The Paddington to Heathrow was open as normal. I used it on both days from Hayes and Harlington to Paddington.
