Hello all!
Ds due to start reception in September. He has a one week transition in a couple of weeks where he "has to wear uniform", so I'm sorting his uniform this week.
I'm thinking rather than the embroidered logo polo t shirt I'm going to get him plain polo tops as he will have a logo jumper on anyway. Ill buy a couple of logo ones for school pics etc. Pe kit is plain so also need to get that.
I've also noticed that for the price of one logo t shirt, I can buy five plain ones. Do I sound like I'm being a cheap skate though?!
Can anyone recommend where to buy from please, are a y better quality than others? I was thinking asda or sainsburys, but then forgot about next and m&s.

Thanks all!

Polos with logos on are a total pain, because the embroidered logo has a tendancy to bend out of shape in the wash at times, and it also can rub on their nipples, one of mine was really irritated by the logo ones and had to wear vests even in summer on PE days. Also most parents don't bother with the polo ones. I will get a logo jumper if the price difference isn't much more, but I really don't think it is something people are snobby about. If anything, it is not the middle class families who buy all the optional blazers and ties and hair bows and logo everything.

Btw are you sure the school didn't mean send them in their nursery uniform? It is an unusual and unreasonable request to expect parents to buy uniform before the summer holidays.

I agree go for quantity over quality. Two of mine have needed clean everything every day all throughout primary. My youngest I automatically bought 5 of everything, and find he actually doesn't need so much, but it's still better to have more and saves things getting worn out, and means losing things isn't an issue.

They've said school uniform and emailed the price list and details where to purchase from. To be honest I thought it was a bit cheeky, as I haven't officially been told the transition dates. I called them last week and was told the dates they think it's happening but they couldn't give me times or further details. I said I haven't heard anything via email or post and they said that's correct and I'll hear something closer to the time😳how can they expect the children to be in their uniform when realistically they haven't given enough time to get the logo uniform ordered and delivered?!

I had a full set of uniform each day for Dts in yR, they were disgustingly messy and I was working FT so couldn't be doing with washing in the week. The jumper / cardigan was the only branded thing so they had three each. The rest was Sainsbury's or Asda. Great quality, washed well and lasted until they grew out of it.

I absolutely wouldn't be buying uniform this side of the 6 weeks holiday either, they grow like weeds in the summer!
