Sterilising bottles abroad

Going to Ibiza in a few weeks all inclusive so we won’t have a microwave with us so can’t use the sterilising bags. How should I go about sterilising? I have heard about the milton tablets but I wasn’t sure about the water as you aren’t meant to drink it, is it ok to wash then sterilise the bottles in the tap water? Also for the Milton tablets it says you need to sterilise in 5l but if the sink is smaller than that does it matter? Not sure if I'm overthinking it!

I would take a tub with you. I think you can buy travel cold water sterilisers (might be a combo one that can also be used in a microwave).

Milton, or similar, are fine with tap water. You use to be able to buy pre-measured disposable bags to hang over a bath or shower.

That's great so even though you aren't meant to drink the water abroad it's fine to sterilise bottles in? Was thinking if not it's going to be a right faff on using 5l of bottles water everyday. I could see if I could borrow a friends Milton cold water steriliser tub as she no longer uses it and just fill it with items we're taking.

You absolutely can drink water abroad. I’ve never drank only bottled water in Spain. It can not always taste as nice depending on where you are, but it’s perfectly safe. And yes, you can sterilise with it.

Milton do a small travel size one. It fits one bottle at a time. But solution is the same for 24hrs. So you can just wash bottle, put in the travel size pot for 15 mins then seal the pot and reuse for the next bottle.

Why do you think you can't drink the water in Europe? Confused

But to answer your question, Milton is fine - it sterilises both the water it is in (Wink) and any objects you put it in, like the bottles. You don't even need to rinse them after taking them out (I was taught that by the nurses in the maternity unit when I had to go back in to the maternity unit with a major infection but was also expressing to supplement ds' feeds).

The water should be fine there to drink. It might not taste the best but it should not be unsafe
