Ive probably spelt this wrong.
I've had real pain on the sole of my left foot. It did improve but is really painful again.
What can I do? It hurts to walk but i have to walk the dog. Is there any point in going to the GP?

Losing weight helped me. As did buying Fitflop boots and Skechers shoes and giving up totally on heels and thin soled shoes. Always wear slippers in the home, or in summer, good flip flops. I have ones with tiny massage bumps on the soles that almost cure my plantar when it flares up.

Avoid all high impact exercise. I had to stop running, boxercise, even hiking for a while and took up weight training and body weight instead. Which I still do and love. Yoga also helps as it stretches the calf muscles.

I never found ice or painkillers or massage helped tbh.

The best thing I found for mine was skechers Go walk shoes.

Same here. Ugly but life changing!

I used Birkies for mine and it absolutely nailed it.

Now l have Achilles tendinitis and that is proving to be a right twat to shift.

Defo birkies for PF. Achilles bloody painful. Podiatrist told me to stretch foot gently against a wall, with toes on the wall iyswim.

Yes to Birkenstocks here but a big no to Skechers Go Walks (the ones with memory foam soles). My podiatrist warned me off them, said she sees so many people who have developed PF after wearing them, they are comfy in the short term but very bad for long term wear. DH had some and he developed PF, they went straight in the bin. I couldn't wear crocs when I had it either, they are OK again now but I only wear them for short spells in the garden.

Thank you, lots of advice!
I've got a sock and ordered the high insoles. Are the rollers worth getting?

I had it badly some years ago. I used arch support inserts (Scholl, from Boots) continuously for a few weeks (in both shoes though only R foot was affected) and that sorted it.

I roll a tennis ball under my foot while I’m working. It was painful but it helped. I also wore plantar fasciitis boots all day for about a week or two. After that never needed to wear them again. I do the tennis ball therapy occasionally when my feet get a little sore but it’s never been as bad as it was a few years ago.

Fill up a plastic bottle with water and freeze.
Use it as a foot roller.

Dreikanter · 13/06/2022 13:51

A tennis ball or a frozen bottle of water works well.

Lots of gentle stretching first thing keeps mine at bay, plus supportive insoles.

skyeisthelimit · 13/06/2022 13:57

Someone I know who had it, had custom made insoles for their shoes that were moulded to fit their feet, (by a chiropodist) and it stopped almost overnight.

I have had a touch of it myself in the past and my physio told me to never wear flat shoes which has helped a lot.
