I need an indestructible mug that is also dishwasherable

Any recommendations? It's for DH, he's a builder and keeps a mug in his work van, but ordinary mugs keep getting broken and I've hardly any old mugs left in the cupboard, so I thought for Father's Day, the kids could get him a good quality indestructible mug for work, but it MUST be 100% dishwasher safe as he only brings the mug in on a Friday to be washed and no amount of handwashing gets a weeks worth of tea dregs out (yes it's gross, but he doesn't care -says it adds more flavour 🤢, not my mug, not my business...)

What about a melamine one? Or a tin one?

OperationRinka · 11/06/2022 16:25

Enamel is the obvious solution. You can get a cheap as chips one or something twee from Not On The High Street.

if you want china, these are pretty tough and big. but will break if you drop it.

You could try camping shops which will have stainless steel and insulated mugs. The enamel mugs are hard wearing, but I got rid of mind as the handles and outside got too hot and the hot drinks cooled down too quickly.

I forgot to say that I'd rather get a travel style one rather than enamel, melamine or tin.

Stanley do a brilliant range of work mugs and flags for builders etc. my DH swears by theM, I got him a lunch box, huge flask and mug/stein . Keeps drinks hot/cold for AGES. . Life time warranty too. They honour the warranty no question if you keep your receipt. The seal went in the flask and I was expecting a new seal, they sent a new flask. Brilliant brilliant company and I love them and recommend them to everybody.

Agree that Stanley mugs would fit the bill here.

The tumblers and coffee mugs from here are dishwasher safe. I've a few and I love them!

We've all got Stanley flasks and would not be without them; a coffee made at 0720 is still hot at lunchtime and warm on the way home !

I love my Yeti travel mug. I use it every single day, it goes in the dishwasher and is very robust. It does spill a bit though - Contigo are good if you want one that is absolutely watertight.

I looked at Contigo but the ones I looked at only had dishwasher safe lids, the actual mud part was handwash only.

No idea but I love the word dishwasherable.

Looks like Stanley are the way to go then! I might get him a hot food container too, he'd probably enjoy that during winter.

I use Contagon travel mugs, I won't use anything else as they're so leak proof. Takes two mins to rinse it out.

I have bought the hot food flask too! Works a treat all year around and is wide neck so you can eat out of it easily. In the summer I do cold pasta, salad, ice cream and apple pie etc. in the winter he gets the left over scouse, curry, lasagne, bolognese etc. if you preheat or pre cool the flask/mug they are absolutely amazing at staying at the correct temperature.

His work mates are all 😲 at the range of dinners he gets and they are all sat there with bashed up warm sandwiches. He absolutely loves it, says it makes his day so much brighter as he looks forward to decent home cooked lunches.
