Apologies for calling OP’s privilege and naming six:

New books:
Sorrow and Bliss ( Meg Mason)
Still Life ( Sarah Winman)
Small Things Like These (Claire Keegan)

Old friends:
The Witches of Eastwick (John Updike)
Ottoline ( Neil Gaiman, with my DS10 who loved it too)
I Feel Bad About my Neck ( Norah Ephron, not even a novel)

I am always looking for new ideas. So please post you’re top 1, or 6.

I've just worked my way through all of Lissa Evans backlist and particularly enjoyed Old Baggage.

I'd also recommend J K Rowling's Strike novels, which I listened to on audible and kept me entertained for many hours whilst ill with Covid.

I recently read Klara and the Sun for my bookclub, which is marmite but I actually thought it was pretty good and it has definitely stayed with me.

Hourglass - Keiran Goddard, We Do What We Do in the Dark - Michelle Hart, The Kingdom of Sand - Andrew Holleran, Joan is Okay - Weike Wang, Berlin - Bea Setton, Delphi - Clare Pollard, The Odyssey - Lara Williams, Fight Night - Miriam Toews, One Day I Shall Astonish the World - Nina Stibbe.

None of mine are super new, but I’ve enjoyed Small Pleasures, Piranesi and The Pull of the Stars this year.

I noticed Hammet was 99p on kindle the other day - that was v good.

I also liked Thursday Murder Club much more than I thought I would. I’m not normally into crime novels but the characters are so sweet and funny and genuine. Nice to see strong older women too.
