Posting here for more traffic. I currently have covid and have a terrible sore throat with blister/ ulcer type sores all around the back of my throat. Swallowing saliva or water is so painful. I obviously can’t go to the GP but might phone them for advice tomorrow? Or is there any point?

I’m taking paracetamol/ ibuprofen, strepsils extra and DP got me difflam spray but it seems to hurt more than it helps.

Has anyone had this? Can you offer any ideas? It’s agony! Thanks in advance.

Oh gosh, you have my sympathy. Honestly the best remedy I've ever found for mouth ulcers, blisters and lesions is Iglu gel. It's amazing stuff and actually speeds up the healing process (no idea how!).

Hope you feel better soon, but yes, definitely mention it to your doctor as there may be an emerging link between this and Covid.

Thanks so much I will look into that tomorrow. They’re so far back in my throat though it’s hard to get anything on them they’re right where I swallow so the difflam seems to only last seconds.

Sounds awful! Have you tried ice? Ice lollies etc?
That may soothe your mouth/throat.

Difflam spray will help with the pain and if you get so bad you do need help you can phone the gp for the phone consultation.

Definitely GP first thing but if you get to the point where you're actually drooling and cannot swallow your own slaiva, you need medical attention ASAP.

Tyrozet if you can locate it from a chemist is amazing for just sore throat.

I find gargling with Corsodyl antiseptic mouthwash brilliant for getting rid of mouth ulcers, literally overnight. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh you poor thing!

If they're not too far down your throat then gargle with salt water (preferably cooled boiled water but if you're in the UK then tap shouldn't do any harm). Get the water nice and salty.

Best thing for ulcers - clears them up in no time, even massive ones. Do it several times a day.

I too have Covid at the moment and suffering with similar. My throat feels like it's been stripped but it's really far down. I woke up in a bit of a panic in the night as it hurts to breathe and swallow. I'm also finding that my hands and feet are uncomfortably hot.
This is my second bout of Covid. I didn't have these symptoms before. I feel dreadful.

Nurse prescribed me Difflam but it seemed to make it worse. I was able to swallow my own saliva but only just. I did what a nurse taught me years ago. I gargled regularly with soluble aspirin. The act of gargling and frothing the aspirin in the throat might help. It was my worst symptom, but not nice at all.

upinaballoon · 09/06/2022 07:45

Yes, I found that I had to hold my throat with my hand to help me when I wanted to swallow. It was a BIG event.

Tyrozets were discontinued a couple of years ago. Can't be sold anymore unfortunately.

Thanks for all the advice and sorry to hear others are suffering! I didn’t know this was part of covid. I will try to get hold of some ice lollies today.
