Saying thanks?

Hi

If you fed someone's pet, on a daily basis, for a week, what would your expectation be when it ends? A pop round to say thank you? Payment? A box of chocs?

Twice a day, 15 mins each time, neighbour so not too far?

Didn't see neighbour the whole time?

Thanks!

Yes, I actually think that’s pretty poor show to not thank someone properly after a week of feeling their pet. You’ve probably saved them a fortune in cattery charges. I wouldn’t be helping them again!

They should alabsolutely give your DS £20 and a verbal thanks.

I would take a note with a thank you on it as having been thanked. It would have been better if they’d got him a little something too but I with that added information, I’m not sure you’re right to say he hasn’t been thanked for doing it.

Probably!

Oh well, will just have to put a line under it, but unless DS is desperate to do it again probably say no in future

I must be a massive dick because I just paid my family member 120 to feed my pets for 3 days, and they didn't bloody do it right.

I wouldn’t expect anything as an adult, other than a thank you. But I can’t imagine not paying a teenager for doing this. For a full 7 days, I’d give a teen at least £35, a fiver a day but most likely give £50 for a job well done.

Cheeky fuckers to not even say a face to face thank you, I wouldn’t let my teen help out again.

You paid someone £40 a day to feed pets?!!

purplecorkheart · 07/06/2022 16:00

I would have thought they would drop a voucher or something to him tbh

daffodilandtulip · 07/06/2022 16:03

I recently paid a teenager £10 a day for a two visits to a reptile with lots of instructions. It was half what pet sitters were quoting.

DD did this for our neighbour for a week with no expectation of getting anything in return - I thought they might bring her back a box of fudge or similar, but dd hadn't really thought about it. She liked the cat and was happy to help.

They stuck an envelope through the door after getting back with £50 in it!Shock Needless to say, dd was happy to help again the next time they asked!!

Our neighbour (literally next flat to us, so very close!) fed and watered our pets for a few days and we gave her £20 and a pack of tobacco (she doesn't eat chocolate and drink alcohol so those were ruled out!) plus a very big thank you.

AdmiralsPie · 07/06/2022 16:37

I would 100% pay a teen. And say thank you.

BrylcreamBeret · 07/06/2022 16:37

@PurpleDaisies It was that or no holiday! This family member has been hugely problematic though, constantly asking for huge favours from me (that I do, because family) and then wanting cash for any tiny thing that he OFFERS to do. I've found new babysitters for the next holiday though, huzzah!
