New York with teenagers in July

I'm spending 3 nights (2 days) in New York in July with 3 teenage boys. They're not particularly interested in art or history (sadly!)I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning so I would be grateful for any tips/advice.

So far I have booked an evening theatre trip.

  1. Any recommendations for good burger and pizza restaurants?
  1. 9.11 museum/memorial - how long would we need
  2. Top of the rock OR empire state? Is an evening or day time best to go up?
  3. Central Park
  1. The highline
  2. Walk over Brooklyn Bridge
  3. Station Island ferry to see liberty - is it worth spending time on Statton? Or Governors Island instead? Kids not too fused about going to see liberty itself.
  4. It will be hot- is there a beach worth going to or I'd that too much/too far?
9.Any sights we just need to see?

Thanks!

Shake shack is great and reasonably priced.

Fat Dave's food tour is AMAZING. Not cheap, but really fantastic.

I’d say book 3 or 4 must see places and focus on that.

A lot of people say TOTR as you can see the ESB from it but I think the ESB is iconic so would do that. All depends on what you like.

What time do you arrive and what time do you leave?

9/11 museum is about 3-4 hours. The memorial pools can be done quicker. What do you want to see?

The ferry is an ideal way of seeing the SOL without going to the islands. If you do go, again you need to allow 3-4 hours. As you can see, just two attractions can take a full day.

There is too much to see in the city to go to the beach so I would scrap that.

The Ride might be a worthwhile thing to do with teen boys.

A pedi can tour might be worth booking in Central Park. Look up Frankie Legs.

I would definitely do the highline, its great!

We don't have any children but we went to the Intrepid sea, air and space museum and really enjoyed it, I didn't think I would but was a great day out!

Central Park was lovely but we hired bikes to cycle round it but it was very hot (we went mid june) and to be honest it was a struggle! Maybe walk round some of it instead.

Pedi Cab, not Pedi Can.

One World Observatory is worth researching, as is the Edge.

The Ghostbusters Fire House

Grand Central Station - whispering walls.

Lunch in Bryant Park.

Charging Bull.

Intrepid.
